This spa-inspired primary bathroom remodel in Bellingham, WA transformed an outdated bathroom into a calm, light-filled retreat with a sauna and large zero-entry walk-in shower. The goal was to create a more luxurious, functional space with the comfort and relaxation of a true spa experience.

To improve the layout, pocket doors were installed to divide the bathroom into distinct zones while keeping the space open and easy to use. Where an alcove jetted tub once stood, we created a large zero-entry tile shower with a rain showerhead and handheld showerhead on a brushed nickel slide bar.

The shower glass includes a circular cutout, allowing the water to be turned on without stepping into the shower or getting sprayed. A custom shower bench was designed for use both inside and outside the shower, adding comfort, convenience, and thoughtful function.

To bring in natural light while maintaining privacy, the window was replaced with a glass block window. The light, monochromatic tile and bright finishes help the bathroom feel airy, peaceful, and spacious.

The double vanity was updated with modern white Shaker-style cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a matching quartz backsplash. Undermount sinks echo the circular shape of the flush-mount medicine cabinet mirrors, while motion-sensor faucets add hands-free convenience.

A sauna replaced the original small standalone shower, giving the bathroom a true spa-like feature and creating a dedicated space for relaxation. The finished primary bathroom is bright, calming, and highly functional, blending modern comfort with a serene spa-inspired design.
