This white Shaker kitchen remodel in Ferndale, WA transformed a closed-off kitchen into a bright, open space designed for everyday living and easy entertaining. The homeowners wanted a more connected layout with a large island, casual seating, and better flow between the kitchen and dining area.

To open up the space, a wall was removed and the kitchen layout was reworked to feel larger, brighter, and more functional. Because the renovation changed the surrounding walls and layout, the wood floors were refinished to create a seamless transition throughout the updated space.

The new kitchen features bright white Shaker-style cabinetry paired with quartz countertops for a clean, timeless look. The quartz was also used as the window sill behind the sink, helping protect the area from water while creating a polished, cohesive detail.

A blue glass arabesque tile backsplash adds color, texture, and personality to the kitchen. To keep the backsplash uninterrupted, under-cabinet task bars with integrated outlets and lighting were installed, preserving the clean tile design while adding practical function.

Warm luxe gold finishes were used throughout the kitchen, including the faucet and oversized cabinet pulls, adding contrast and warmth against the white cabinetry and countertops. The range combines stainless steel and gold details, allowing warm and cool metals to work together beautifully.

The large island offers generous storage, an electrical outlet, and a curved overhang for comfortable seating. Three seeded glass pendant lights illuminate the island, while a coordinating glass chandelier in the adjacent dining area helps tie the spaces together.

The finished kitchen is bright, welcoming, and highly functional, with a timeless white Shaker design, a statement blue tile backsplash, and plenty of space for gathering.
